This conceptual project aimed to revitalize the branding styles of a renowned space museum in Vancouver, BC, breathing new life into its visual identity. The scope of the project encompassed stationery, banners, and corporate collateral, offering a comprehensive brand refresh.

In my initial research for this project, I looked at what this non-profit science gallery provides to the public. Included are visual demonstrations, access to a planetarium & telescope, and notable pieces of space history. The museum also offers educational programming both on and off-site that follows the BC provincial government’s curriculum

Drawing inspiration from these exceptional offerings, my goal was to create a vibrant and engaging visual language that reflects the museum's dedication to science education and exploration.

Space Museum Rebranding

Logo Creation

With a rich history dating back to the 1960s, my primary objective was to breathe new life into the museum through a complete refresh, including a redesigned logo. Instead of making minor alterations, I opted for a transformative approach. One significant change was simplifying the name from 'H.R. MacMillan Space Centre' to 'Vancouver Space Centre' or 'VSC,' aiming to attract new visitors and tourists who may be unfamiliar with the museum.

After exploring various logo concepts, I refined the selection to the four ideas presented on the left, while also experimenting with adjusted colors inspired by the original branding.

The new logo draws inspiration from the captivating Milky Way Galaxy. Paired with the Grotesque sans-serif font for VSC, it evokes a simple yet thoughtfully crafted space theme that appeals to audiences of all ages, capturing the imagination of both children and adults.

When envisioning my stationery, I aimed for a clean and minimalist design infused with the same fun and excitement that defines the rest of my branding. Drawing inspiration from captivating space photos, I incorporated a palette of Space-black, purple, and blue, adding a subtle pop of colour.

For the business cards, I introduced a touch of luxury with a spot-uv constellation on the back, accompanied by a spot-uv alternate logo on the front. The enchanting constellation watermark graces the letterhead and is elegantly repeated on the back of the envelope, creating a cohesive and celestial theme

Stationery & Collateral

I wanted to explore the grand and exciting feeling that space gives within the branding imagery. I created a new brand message to follow: “To ignite the passion for space and science through immersive experiences and education, while nurturing a sense of wonder and curiosity for all ages”
